The Isley Brothers on Tour

The Isley Brothers are as much a force of nature as a group you gotta experience them in person to get the full sensory effect. Though some of the original Isleys are no longer with us, Ronald and Ernie Isley continue to front the band in grand style; Ronald's vocal power and Ernie's guitar fireworks are both as strong and soulful as ever. Within seconds of the Isleys taking the stage, it's obvious Ronald was born to be a frontman from his commanding stage presence to his sartorial style and of course his undeniable vocal prowess, he remains a riveting performer. And when Ernie leans into one of his signature licks, like the liquid wah-wah guitar lines of "That Lady," the electricity is coming from more than just his amplifier. Add a killer backup band, dynamic dancers and a thrilling stage show, and you've got not just a show, but a full-blown event.

The Isley Brothers in Concert

Believe it or not, the original incarnation of The Isley Brothers first began performing back in 1954. In the decades that followed, the group evolved through a multitude of stylistic shifts, going from gospel music to R&B to funk and beyond. Along the way they've contributed tons of tunes to the pop pantheon, including "Shout," "That Lady," "Twist and Shout," "It's Your Thing" and "Fight the Power," to name just a few. In era after era, the Isleys have managed to successfully reinvent themselves, even as some of the original members were lost. Now the luminous voice of Ronald Isley and the funky guitar of his younger brother Ernie continue to bring the legacy of the American institution that is The Isley Brothers not only into the present, but into the future as well.

THE CONCERT WAS EXCELLENT ALTHOUGH IT WAS SHORT WHICH I KIND DID NOT MIND HOWEVER I WAS TERRIBLY DISAPPOINTED IN MY SEAT SELECTION AND BLOCKED VIEW FROM PEOPLE SITTING IN FRONT OF MY ROW WHO WOULD NOT SIT DOWN. OTHER THAN THIS, IT WAS AWESOME. I WILL BE RETURNING ON JUNE 29TH FOR HEATWAVE, CONFUNSION AND ATLANTIC STAR

I took my husband out for a father's day/date night outing. The weather was great, grown folks were in the building, and then Ron Isley hit the stage. To be 83 years old, he still looks good, his voice sounds great. However, they had alot of dancers on the stage to assist with his show. The dancers were good. His back up singers and the audience did alot singing along to assist with Ron's voice. You could tell his singing stamina isn't as good anymore. But what do you expect at 83. His wife is one of his backup singers as well. The backup singers did a wonderful job. They carried out his melodic tunes. We had a great time. It was good to see the Isley's in concert on a georgous night! The goal of the night was to give my husband a nice outing and he truly enjoyed himself. Blessings!

  • Meh. Could have been better

by Ham on 6/20/24The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre - DetroitRating: 3 out of 5

Sound was mediocre. First act (Angela Winbush)didn't get a sound check...and it showed. The musicians were great, when you could hear them over the drums. Finally got the last song levels good. Isleys were good, sound was better, seems like Ernie was struggling yo get his tone. Performance was good. DJ sounded better than either acts...just wish the mix was that good for both acts. One thing- need to find a better system to label seat numbers. Put them on the BACK of the seat, not buried on the side....smdh. OverLl, need to get

The concert was absolutely grand. The arena was filled with people that seemed to have been in the move to hear the Isley Brothers old and new songs.

The Isley Brothers and Angela Winbush were great. Both performers had an awesome show. Angela had a full band not using tracks. Isley Brothers was also on fire great show. Lot of slow tracks but it was bumping.

by Ashley on 6/19/24The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre - DetroitRating: 3 out of 5

The concert was great. Butttt it took me 20 minutes to find my seats when I finally found someone to help they just pointed to the row there was no numbers on the seats. It took me another ten minutes to get another usher he did kindly walk us to our seats which this is the part that I’m pissed . I got three seats I was sitting next to a lady let’s just say she should have purchase an additional seat. She was basically sharing a sit with me we was so tight in that area I couldn’t enjoy the concert until she left really. I did not want to be disrespectful but I was very uncomfortable and upset that I couldn’t really enjoy the concert like I wanted

The show was great. Ron Isley is a true entertainer. His voice is outstanding!

  • Explosive

by Trish on 6/19/24The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

Angela Windbush and the Isley Brothers were explosive and I would pay all over again if they duplicated the same performance anywhere in the world. They were amazing and Angela is my SHERO still talented and beautiful. You Go Girl! And Ron inviting his family into the performance is something more people of color need to do so that we can pass on the talent, and means to success and wealth. 100% worth the time and money.

  • Very disappointing

by LC on 6/19/24The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre - DetroitRating: 1 out of 5

I love the music The Isley Brothers made, but I think at some point some performers need to be honest with themselves and realize that they can’t take their audiences money when they can’t hit any high or low notes. Ron‘s voice was not very good and I don’t feel that I should’ve paid what I paid for the show at all. On the other hand his brothers guitar playing was still very good but I actually left the show early which is something I never do.

  • Isley Brothers

by Keysha on 6/19/24The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was great Angela Winbush and the Isley Brothers did a wonderful job for them to be 69 and 83. They still sound as good as they did back in the day.

  • Great Concert!!

by Isley Brothers concert was outstanding on 6/19/24The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

Everything was good, my only issue was that my husband and I was in line for drinks for 45 minutes. Folks getting in front of us, it was very aggravating. There should be lines, or ropes. It’s has to be a better way!!

  • Amazing Concert!!
