About

As the first group to land an extreme metal album at No. 1 on the BIllboard 200, Pantera became overnight torchbearers of the genre, paving the way for a long and successful reign that shows no signs of slowing . In 2013, Pantera frontman, Phil Anselmo, and bassist, Rex Brown, reunited and joined Anthrax on stage at the Revolver Golden God Awards show. Performing "This Love" from their 1992 album "Vulgar Display of Power," Anselmo's voice reminded fans of the unbridled brutality the band was capable of in its heyday. The energy Pantera crammed into their live act cannot be measured by any earthly means. The shredding licks of Dimebag Darrel, backed by Vinnie Paul's solid, world-shattering drums rounded out a power-packed concert that was everything American metal should be. The band treated ticket holders to speed metal of a truly high caliber, as entire arenas seemed to erupt in torrents of high-speed thrashing to a Texas-bred cacophony that was anything but ordinary.

When Anselmo joined the band in 1987, and the band released their breakthrough album 1990's "Cowboys From Hell," little remained of their glam and hair metal origins, and replacing those was an entirely fresh, raw presence that had no equal. After releasing "Vulgar Display of Power" in 1992, Pantera toured with tremendous success. The shocking assassination of Dimebag Darrell in 2004 sadly put an end to any hopes of a reunion, but the memory lives on in singles like "Mouth for War" and "Walk," both from "Vulgar Display of Power." Vulgar's follow-up, "Far Beyond Driven," topped its predecessor with even more raw thunder. Pantera will be remembered as a band that ushered in the new thrash, for nothing was ever the same after they arrived. As they may very well be the fathers of modern metal, they were truly greater than the sum of their parts.

I've been enjoying their music for so many years (I'm not revealing how many..) Yes, the sound, yes, not original band bla bla Be grateful and happy you can experience this again! I, personally, was trying not to pass out ;) Toronto in April ...

  • CFH reunion brings down the house

The Pantera Michigan show was outstanding! It really made me so happy to see the band back together playing those old jams. They sounded tighter than ever. Phil’s vocals are on point and even better than back in the day. Sobriety looks good on the band and sounds even better. I’m excited to see them one more time this year opening for Metallica at Soldier Field next week.

  • What's so Ultimate about the UM&G??

by Blaze on 3/4/24Van Andel Arena - Grand RapidsRating: 3 out of 5

Tour staff for Pantera was non-existent after getting us in the door. I purchased 2 Ultimate Meet and Greet packages, with notations that there would be an on-stage portion of the show for those who purchased this. This did not happen. We received the same treatment as those who purchased the regular Meet and Greet packages. I paid an extra $300+tax for each pass and nothing more. There was no autograph session, just a quick pic and moved on. Definitely not worth what I spent.

  • Disappointed

First off, Lamb of God killed it as usual and are an absolute force to be reckoned with. I've lost track of how many times I have seen them and I am blown away each time. Pantera, on the other hand...Phil seemed like he didn't care and just rolled out of bed before taking the stage. It was also obvious that Zakk is thoroughly bored of playing Dime's riffs and solos, as he added a lot of his own signature sound to each riff and solo. I like Zakk and appreciate him as a guitarist, but it sounded more like, "here's how I would've played Dime's riff/solo"as opposed to him just playing the song. I wanted to see a Pantera tribute, not Zakks rendition of Pantera songs.

  • Expectations exceeded

by Simon on 3/1/24Centre Videotron - QuébecRating: 5 out of 5

Coming into the show I had high expectations. The 2024 edition of pantera had big shoes to fill and they did so in an otherwordly manner. Easily in my top 3 concert ever. Brought me to tears during Flood. Base drum was just a little too loud for lamb of god but thats more a sound tech problem more than the band itself. LoG as usual also delivered with flying colors

  • Never thought I’d get the chance to see Pantera!

by JP on 3/1/24Centre Videotron - QuébecRating: 4 out of 5

It was a real nice experience to see Pantera live after all these years as a fan. I really enjoyed the setlist. I am also a huge Lamb of god fan but I was a little bit disappointed by the sound quality. It was wayyyyyy too loud for nothing and I had a hard time hearing the signers voice. That could have easily been adjusted at the beginning of their set.
