The Isley Brothers on Tour

The Isley Brothers are as much a force of nature as a group you gotta experience them in person to get the full sensory effect. Though some of the original Isleys are no longer with us, Ronald and Ernie Isley continue to front the band in grand style; Ronald's vocal power and Ernie's guitar fireworks are both as strong and soulful as ever. Within seconds of the Isleys taking the stage, it's obvious Ronald was born to be a frontman from his commanding stage presence to his sartorial style and of course his undeniable vocal prowess, he remains a riveting performer. And when Ernie leans into one of his signature licks, like the liquid wah-wah guitar lines of "That Lady," the electricity is coming from more than just his amplifier. Add a killer backup band, dynamic dancers and a thrilling stage show, and you've got not just a show, but a full-blown event.

The Isley Brothers in Concert

Believe it or not, the original incarnation of The Isley Brothers first began performing back in 1954. In the decades that followed, the group evolved through a multitude of stylistic shifts, going from gospel music to R&B to funk and beyond. Along the way they've contributed tons of tunes to the pop pantheon, including "Shout," "That Lady," "Twist and Shout," "It's Your Thing" and "Fight the Power," to name just a few. In era after era, the Isleys have managed to successfully reinvent themselves, even as some of the original members were lost. Now the luminous voice of Ronald Isley and the funky guitar of his younger brother Ernie continue to bring the legacy of the American institution that is The Isley Brothers not only into the present, but into the future as well.

It was not noted that was a 3rd act which took 30 minutes (she was good). THey then did the changeover (standard 15 minutes) before announcing Gladys Knight but it was then an ADDITIONAL 15 minutes before she came out at almost 8pm (she was great as well), by the time she finished it was about 845 (45 minutes of downtime at that point) and then the changeover to Isely Brothers was 20 minutes and we just decided to leave (65 minutes of combined empty time) becuase we had dinner reservations. So we never saw the main act. When leaving, no one was monitoring the handicapped area and cars parked illegally basically blocked us in .. luckily someone was leaving early as well and we were able to barely squeeze out.

  • RAINING

by PEANUT on 8/12/24Dell Music Center - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

The show might have been better if it wasn't raining. Even though, rain or shine, the administration over the Dell should cancel any raining event, someone could really become sick. The performers are dry and probably amazed to see how the audience is sitting in the rain. I'm speaking out because I am handicapped, something needs to change. Gladys Knight, looked good and I did get to hear a few of my favorite songs. My feet swelled and I was very uncomfortable and had to leave, I never saw the Isleys Brothers.

  • Good show for watching in the rain

The concert was a rain or shine event, and it rained that evening all night. But other than that it was a really good show!

Ron and Ernie Isley did not disappoint. Even in the rain. 🌧️ They sang as many classics as they could, considering they only had a few hours. Legends for sure ♥️

  • Front row ticket price was totally worth it.

Debby was in town. It rained and poured, but singing and dancing to the awesome Isley Brothers I would definitely do it again and again.

  • Still going strong after 65 years of music!!

by Herbert Spliffington on 8/11/24Dell Music Center - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

The Isley Brother who plays guitar was shredding! The Isley Brother who sings was doing his best. The backing band was phenomenal. The warmup act was Gladys Knight who most definitely can still sing and whose backing band was also top-notch. These acts will not be touring for another 65 years so you should see them while you still can.

The concert and performance was outstanding. The tickets I brought had duplicates. When I got to my seat another person was in it with the same ticket as me. There was some confusion and the staff sorted things out after about 20 mins of running around.
